BENEDICT, Alanson (1798?-1833: ancestry.com)
Born in Stratford CT to Comfort and Sarah (Pratt) Benedict. He graduated from Yale in 1821 and then attended Princeton Theological Seminary, where he suffered from "severe dyspepsia"--the beginning of serious health problems according to Dexter. Licenced to preach in 1824 and ordained to serve as a home missionary in 1825, he occupied various pulpits in both the north and south of the US. He died and was buried in Danville VA.
