Biography:
BEATTIE, Alexander (c 1780-1840: Scottish Notes and Queries)
He was born at Inverurie, Aberdeenshire, and educated at Marischal College. He taught at a Fortrose school before becoming English master at Tain Academy. His book reprints some of the poems of William Beattie (q.v.); likely the two were cousins. He died at Aberdeen. (Scottish Notes and Queries 8 [1894] 89) SR
