BARTLET, Joseph (1759-1829: ancestry.com)
Though his surname is sometimes spelled Bartlett, he is not to be confused with Joseph Bartlett (1762-1827), q.v. On the title-page of his one publication he is identified as "of Cumberland," i.e. of Cumberland County MA. He was born on 18 Jan. 1759 at Amesbury MA, the son of Hannah and Simeon Bartlet. He served as a corporal in the US army during the Revolutionary War, after which he married Susanna Davis at Warner NH on 28 Dec. 1790. They had a large family--according to one family tree, "at least eleven sons and seven daughters." He died at Warner on 5 Feb. 1829, his wife having predeceased him in 1826.
