No certain biographical information has been located and there is no evidence of his play being performed. The title page gives his name as “John Bartholomew, Esq.” and perhaps he was the son of Thomas and Mary Bartholomew, born on 17 Oct. 1766 and baptised at St. George’s, Hanover Square, on 20 Oct.
