BARRY, Garret (c. 1773-1815: ancestry.com)

Garret (or Garrett) Barry was an Irish immigrant to the US, originally from Co. Cork. No birth record has been found. He studied at Georgetown University. His uncle was a friend of George Washington's, and Barry is identified as one of the guests at a dinner at Mount Vernon on July 10, 1798. He qualified as a doctor and enlisted as a surgeon's mate in the 38th regiment of the US army, but died young at Norfolk VA on 22 Apr. 1815. (George M.
