BAKER, Thomas (1788-1873: ancestry.co.uk)

He was almost certainly the Thomas Baker who was born to Samuel Baker and his wife Ruth Wood in Lutterworth, Leicestershire, on 18 July 1788. His baptism on 16 Sept. 1789 was recorded in the non-conformist registers. The Bakers were a long-established Lutterworth family. On 2 Apr. 1810 he married Ann Whitmore; their daughter, Ann, was born on 1 June 1811. Ann Whitmore Baker died of consumption in July 1812 and on 26 Dec. 1814 Thomas Baker married Priscilla Herbert; they had eleven children. He had various occupations including schoolmaster and distributor of stamps. In Dec. 1837 he was appointed Registrar of Marriages for Lutterworth and the 1871 Census gives that as his occupation.
