Biography:
ATWOOD, Joshua (1756-1813: ancestry.com)
He was born in Bradford MA on 13 Mar. 1756 to Joshua and Mehitabel (Seavey) Atwood, and died in Cornish Flat NH on 5 May 1813. He appears to have served as a Private in Gilman's Regiment of the New Hampshire Militia in 1776 during the Revolutionary War. He and his wife Sarah, who were married in Pelham NH on 19 Sept. 1797, had at least seven children. In the poem published jointly with his younger brother John (q.v.), he wrote the first of the two cantos. (ancestry.com 9 Aug. 2025) HJ
