ATLEE, Edwin Augustus (1776-1852: NUC)
The title-page indicates that he was an MD. Son of Judge William Augustus Atlee and Esther Bowes (Sayre) Atlee, he married Margaret Snyder, with whom he had 11 children. He was gifted in music and languages, and apparently made translations into Latin though they seem not to have been published under his name. He is included as "Translator and Editor" in Joseph Smith's Descriptive Catalogue of Friends' Books (1867) 3:28, from which it may be inferred that he was a Quaker. (findagrave.com 26 Aug. 2017) HJ
