Biography:

ASHE, Nicholas (1754-1816: ancestry.co.uk)

The son of Nicholas Ashe of Drogheda, County Louth, and his wife Mary Smith, he was baptised at St. Peter's, Drogheda on 15 Feb. 1754. He studied at Trinity College Dublin (BA 1777). He was ordained and served first at a church in Athy, County Kildare, before becoming vicar of the Anglican St. Mary’s Church in Maynooth. He was domestic chaplain to William Fitzgerald, Duke of Leinster, and his play—which was never performed—is dedicated to Lady Emily Fitzgerald. He seems not to have married. He died at Maynooth in 1816. His only other publication is a sermon preached in the Maynooth church on the death of William Fitzgerald, A Funeral Sermon Preached in the Parish Church of Maynooth (1804).
