Biography:

ASH, Charles Bowker (1781-1864: ancestry.co.uk)

He was born at Adbaston, Staffordshire, to George Ash and his wife Frances Warren who had married in Adbaston on 26 Dec. 1769. The exact date of his birth is not known but he was baptised in Adbaston on 17 Apr. 1781. Little is known about his life but he married Harriett Davis on 18 Nov. 1811 at St. Paul's in Bristol; they had three sons and three daughters. The dedications to his Adbaston and The Hermit of Hawkstone are dated from the Theatre Royal, Bath. The 1832 Poll Book records him as an auctioneer in Hinstock, Salop; he lived in Hinstock for the rest of his life and worked as a land surveyor and auctioneer. The 1851 Census records him as living in Hinstock with Harriet and the three daughters. He died on 23 June 1864, leaving effects of under £100. (ancestry.co.uk 26 Sept. 2022) SR
