Biography:

ALLEN, Jonathan (1748-1827: ancestry.com)

Son of Jonathan Allen and Mary (Latham) Allen, he was born at Braintree MA on 16 Feb. 1748. He graduated from Harvard in 1774, was ordained in 1781, and spent the rest of his life as Pastor of the First Church in Bradford MA. At a date unknown he married a woman whose first name was Elizabeth; she died in 1821 and was buried at Bradford. They had an only daughter, Eliza, who married Thomas Abbott Merrill. Allen died on 6 Mar. and was buried, like his wife, in the Ancient Burying Ground of Bradford. (Sprague; ancestry.com 29 Aug. 2017, 4 Aug. 2025) HJ
