Biography:
ALLEN, James (1739-1808: WBIS)
The son of a Boston merchant, he attended Harvard but left without a degree. He is said to have written a great deal of poetry, including an epic entitled "Bunker Hill," but was according to Kettell too indolent to have any of it published. The one exception is the volume brought out by the effort of his friends. (Kettell) HJ
