ALEXANDER, Samuel (fl 1824)
The title page of The Pleasures of Religion identifies him as author of “The Logical Syntax”: this is A Logical Essay, on the Syntax of the English Language, the first edition of which was printed for the author in Omagh in 1822. Subsequent editions were printed in Manchester, starting in 1830, and those designate Alexander as “of Manchester.” A Samuel Alexander, schoolteacher, who was born in Ireland in 1765 died in Hulme, Manchester, in 1837; possibly this was him.
