Biography:

ALEXANDER, James Lynne (1801-79: DCB)

He was born in Glenhead, Co. Antrim, in Ireland and emigrated to Upper Canada with his parents at the age of 16; became a teacher and then in 1828 took up a scholarship to study theology. He was ordained a priest in 1832 and served as a missionary for the Anglican Church first in Lower Canada, until 1843, and then in the vicinity of Hamilton in what was by then called Canada West, until his retirement in 1873.  (DCB 29 Aug. 2017) HJ
