ALEXANDER, Hugh (c. 1771-1852: Dublin Evening Packet)

No records have been found for his birth or parentage. Possibly he was born in Scotland. On 1 June 1794 he married Alice Kelly in St. Bride’s Church, Dublin. The BL copy of his book includes a manuscript letter from him to James Corry of Dublin, addressed from the Army Accounts Office on 11 Nov. 1808. Alexander served as a clerk in the Accounts Office until at least 1829; he was allowed a pension in 1830. He died at his home on Bolton Street, Dublin, on 3 Mar. 1852; the newspaper notice of his death states that he was in his eighty-second year.
