Biography:

VALLE, Henrietta F., formerly SHEARGOLD (1809-54: findmypast.com)

She was baptised Henrietta Field Sheargold on 5 June 1809 in Hammersmith, London, the daughter of the solicitor Henry Joseph Sheargold and his wife Frances Ann Restall. In 1833, giving her year of birth as 1812 and her age as 21, she became the second wife of Peter Henry Vallé (1793-1846), who was a clerk of the Privy Council. While he worked in Whitehall, they lived near Portman Square and moved in fashionable society. Autumnal Leaves, especially in its second expanded edition of 1837 dedicated to the Countess of Munster, was well received. Peter Vallé appears to have retired to Kent about 1840; their two daughters were both born in Margate. He died in 1846 and is buried at Kensal Green. The Census of 1851 shows his widow and children living at that time with one servant in a house in Thanet. She died there and is also buried at Kensal Green.
